New Faculty and Staff

Dr Hu Maomao
Assistant Professor, Department of the Built Environment
Before joining NUS, Assistant Professor Hu was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University from 2022 to 2023. He was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford from 2020 to 2021. He received his PhD in Building Environment and Energy Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2019. His research focuses on developing sustainable and scalable technologies and computational tools to make today’s building and urban energy systems low-carbon, energy-efficient, energy-flexible, climate-resilient, and equitable using data analytics, machine learning, optimisation, and advanced model-based controls across a spectrum of scales. He has actively contributed to international collaborations, including the ongoing IEA EBC Annex 81 (Data-Driven Smart Buildings) and Annex 82 (Energy Flexible Buildings Towards Resilient Low Carbon Energy Systems).

Professor Law Wing Keung, Adrian
Professor, Department of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Before his appointment at NUS, Professor Adrian Law Wing-Keung was a faculty member in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NTU. He obtained his PhD (1991) and MS (1985) from the University of California at Berkeley and a BEng (Civil) from the University of Hong Kong. Prof Law has active interests in coastal and hydraulic engineering, environmental hydraulics, and process control of water systems and treatment facilities. He also has extensive industrial experience, particularly with large-scale water infrastructure projects, and has acted as an expert consultant for many local and international companies.

Ms Liu Weijia, Jessica
Teaching Assistant, Division of Industrial Design
Jessica Liu has 6 years of design experience. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in design and a master’s degree in landscape architecture. After graduation, she transitioned into UI/UX design work and has contributed her expertise to various design products/projects, collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Just before joining NUS, she had worked in the fintech sector. She will conduct and facilitate classes & workshops as part of the Design Narrative team.

Ms Chua Yina (Cai Yina)
Associate Director, NUS Cities, Dean’s Office
Before joining NUS Cities, Yina was the Chief Sustainability Officer at Singapore Polytechnic. She is also a certified Green Mark Accredited Professional with experience in decarbonisation strategies and implementation. She is an advocate of sustainable practices and possesses knowledge and experience in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. She looks forward to being part of and growing with NUS Cities, realising its mission to be an open and inclusive collaborative platform for education, research, and advisory services.

Ms Liu Huan, Gladys
Manager, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Gladys graduated from NUS with a BEng in Materials Science and Engineering in 2011. With years of working experience in project management and sourcing, she joined the MSE Department to support Finance and Research Administrative tasks. Before joining NUS, she worked as a programme manager for an education consulting firm.

Mr Chuah Jin Wei
Assistant Manager, Strategic Initiatives & Operations, Dean’s Office
As an NUS Management Associate, Jin Wei has had a rich and diverse range of experiences. He began at the Office of Risk Management and Compliance (ORMC), where he was exposed to various aspects of management and operations. The next rotation took him to the Agility Office (AO), where he honed his skills in strategic planning, systems thinking and agile methodologies. Finally, he joined Strategic Initiatives and Operations (SIO), CDE Dean's Office, taking part in key strategic projects and process improvements. He is a proud alumnus of CDE, having majored in Mechanical Engineering. His technical background has given him a unique perspective in his current role, enabling him to bridge the gap between engineering principles and business operations for his new role in SIO.

Ms Gao Fan, Stella
Assistant Manager, Division of Industrial Design
The Division of Industrial Design welcomes Stella Gao as coordinator for the CDE common curriculum course, Creating Narratives. This interdisciplinary course explores a range of narrative forms to engage, inform, and persuade different audiences and communicate ideas effectively. Stella’s experience is in project management, multi-disciplinary design, brand strategy, and digital innovation, all key elements in the Creative Narratives curriculum. Formerly a Project Manager at a leading branding agency, she has led projects across FMCG, banking and real estate. Now joining the National University of Singapore, Stella brings her dynamic creativity and exceptional project management skills to enhance course management, elevating the educational experience for students and faculty alike. She aims to contribute her industry knowledge and make a meaningful impact on the university's creative and educational landscape.

Miss Choo Mei Chan, Rachel Marie Ledesma
Senior Executive, Communications & Marketing, Dean’s Office
Rachel graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a degree in design communication. She also holds a Diploma in Digital Media Design from Singapore Polytechnic. Her breadth of experience in administration, internal communications, channel management, branding, and design will be used to support the design communication needs of CDE and the administration of the College’s website and platforms.

Mr Abu Huzaifah Bin Masnin
Senior Executive, NUS Cities, Dean’s Office
Abu Huzaifah holds a Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). Before joining NUS, he was in the healthcare sector, working in various hospitals. He specialised in clinical operations in the A&E and Operating Theatres, supporting administrative, procurement and logistical functions. He also contributed to the opening of public healthcare institutions such as Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Woodlands Health. He will be assisting in the administrative section of NUS Cities.

Ms Zhang Zhan, Annie
Senior Executive, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Annie has 13 years of experience in accounting, with a recent venture into the insurance industry. Annie brings a diverse skill set to address challenges with a holistic perspective. As a new team member, she now manages the administration of the MSE self-funded programme, overseeing programme coordination, admissions, and module registration. Additionally, she reviews credits for special programmes in collaboration with Chinese universities.

Miss Nur Diana D/O Haja Maideen
Executive, Communications & Marketing, Dean’s Office
Diana recently graduated from NUS with a major in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. She developed her skills in design and writing and her passion for communication through co-curricular activities and completing internships at AllforU and the National Youth Council (NYC). At NYC, she designed graphics and developed content for NYC’s OnMyWay website, marketing materials, and social media. She will now utilise her talents to support CDE’s education pillar, focusing on developing content for undergraduate and graduate programmes and student life.

Mr Fu Jiahua, Henry
Executive, Development, Dean’s Office
Henry recently graduated from NUS with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Life Sciences. He brings diverse skills and experiences to his new role, from production to quality assurance. As a new team member, Henry will support the Office of Development in its role of engaging NUS donors and organising events, as well as other general office administration duties.

Miss Pung Cheng Yee
Management Assistant Officer, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Cheng Yee's work will be focused on graduate research administration. She is a graduate of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, having earned her Diploma in Pharmacy Science in 2018. Before joining the team, Cheng Yee gained experience working in the International Student Office at the Singapore Institute of Management and served as a Ground Response Force Officer and musician at the Singapore Police Force.

Mrs Teo Kwee Kee, Jessie
Management Assistant Officer, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
With a diverse background in customer service and logistics, Jessie brings valuable expertise in managing various administrative responsibilities. In her new role, Jessie will support the department in general office administration duties and address student admission matters.
