Dr Peggy Deamer is Professor Emerita of Yale University’s School of Architecture and principal in the firm of Deamer, Studio. She is a founding member of the Architecture Lobby, a group advocating for the value of architectural design and labour. She is the editor of Architecture and Capitalism: 1845 to the Present and The Architect as Worker: Immaterial Labour, the Creative Class, and the Politics of Design. She is a co-author of The Organiser’s Guide to Architecture Education and the author of Architecture and Labour. Articles by her have appeared in Log, Avery Review, e-Flux, and Harvard Design Magazine, amongst other journals. Her theoretical work explores the relationship between subjectivity, design, and labour in the current economy. She received the Architectural Record 2018 Women in Architecture Activist Award and the 2021 The Cooper Union John Q. Hejduk Award.

Professor Ong Shyue Ping
Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Professor Ong Shyue Ping is the Provost Chair Professor in Materials Science and Engineering. He leads the Materialyze.AI lab, a materials informatics research group focused on the integration of materials science with data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the design of materials. He is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of foundation potentials, AI models that have broad applications in materials simulations and design. Prof Ong is also the lead developer of pymatgen, one of the most popular open-source libraries for materials analysis, and a core contributor to the Materials Project, a public platform that provides computed properties of materials. Ong holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and MEng and BA in Electrical and Information Science from the University of Cambridge.

Assistant Professor Feng Liang
Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Assistant Professor Feng Liang received his PhD in 2020 from Texas A&M University and completed his postdoctoral training at Northwestern University under Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart. He started his independent career as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Duke University during 2023–2025 before joining National University of Singapore as Assistant Professor under the NUS Presidential Young Professorship. His research focuses on energy and sustainability, specifically in carbon capture and removal, decarbonization, and the development of critical materials and minerals. He also explores bioinspired soft matter, supramolecular and porous materials, and polymer science and engineering to advance solutions for clean air and water. His recent recognitions include ARPA-E/DOE Early-Career IGNIITE Award, ACS’s first Sustainability Star (C&EN Feature), Sloan Foundation Scialog Collaborative Innovation Award, Bezos Earth Fund Greenhouse Gas Removal Ideation Prize, and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree.

Ms Tjiu Weng Weei
Laboratory Executive, Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Prior to joining the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Ms Tjiu Weng Weei worked as a Senior Specialist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) at A*STAR. She has over 20 years of experience in electron microscopy and ultramicrotomy. She will be managing and providing support for the daily operations of the Focused Ion Beams (FIBs) and the Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs) at the Electron Microscopy Facility in NUS.
