New Faculty and Staff
Dr Wei Mingyang
Assistant Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
Dr Wei Mingyang received his BSc in Physics from Peking University, followed by a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto. He was a scientist at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. His research focuses on developing hybrid organic-inorganic semiconductors with precisely engineered heterostructures for next-generation energy-conversion technologies.
Dr Annie Kumar
Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr Annie Kumar worked at IMEC, Belgium, from June 2022 to August 2024 to develop low-cost, high-frequency III-V Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors on large-area Si substrates for 6G applications. She received her MS and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NUS in 2014 and 2018 and worked as a Research Fellow from 2018 to May 2022.
Dr Lin Feng
Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr Lin Feng was appointed a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2024. He received a BEng degree in Computer Science and Control and an MEng degree in system engineering from Beihang University, Beijing, China, in 2000 and 2003, respectively. He received a PhD in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2011.
Dr Lin was a Senior Research Scientist at Temasek Laboratories @ NUS and a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at NUS from 2011 to 2019. Subsequently, he served as the Chief Technology Officer at Shenzhen MicroHiggs Technologies from 2019 to 2023.
His primary areas of research and educational focus include unmanned aerial vehicles, flight control and motion planning, and vision-aided localisation and control. He has contributed to over 30 papers in the field of unmanned systems. Notably, he received the Best Application Paper Award at the 8th World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation held in Jinan, China, in 2010. Moreover, Dr. Lin has played a significant role on the editorial board for Unmanned Systems.
Dr Theivendiram Pranavan
Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr Theivendiram Pranavan holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a PhD from the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His research focuses on Machine Learning and Computer Vision. During his graduate studies, he contributed to teaching a range of undergraduate courses, including Discrete Structures, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Machine Learning.
Ms Tuteja Sugandha
Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Ms Tuteja Sugandha joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering in August 2024. She graduated NUS in 2023 with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering (honours), with distinction, and a minor in Interactive Media Development. Prior to this appointment, she was appointed as Firmware Development Engineer at Micron, focusing on security for SSD drives. Currently, she teaches EE2028 (Microcontroller Programming and Interfacing) and CG3207 (Computer Architecture).
Ms Choi Mijin
Teaching Assistant, Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC), Dean's Office, Dean’s Office
Mijin is an interdisciplinary designer with experience in digital communication design and design project management. From a UX researcher in the HCI Lab to a UI/UX Designer in a startup environment, she has developed mobile applications in the social networking and education sectors. She contributed to the design community as a writer for Bootcamp, UX Collective.
Mr Daniel Habid Valdes Athie
Teaching Assistant, NUS Cities, Dean’s Office
Habid is experienced in architectural design and façade engineering in Mexico. His participation includes projects ranging from small-scale buildings up to large-scale infrastructure developments such as airports and office campuses, with an emphasis on sustainable architecture strategies. He recently graduated with a Master of Science (Integrated Sustainable Design) from NUS, where he explored a systemic approach to sustainable urbanism, nature-based solutions, carbon accountability and green buildings in tropical climates. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Ibero-American University in Mexico City.
Mr Leow Fong Ying Jordan
Executive, Department of Biomedical Engineering
Jordan supports the department in the Graduation Certificate Programmes. Before joining NUS, he was working at the East Asia Institute of Management and was responsible for academic administration. As a new father to an infant daughter, he spends his free time with her, which inspires him to work diligently for his family.
Miss Tan Cun Jia
Executive, Division of Industrial Design
Cun Jia is the new Design Lead at the Communication Design Hub. She specialises in graphic and speculative design, having recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the NUS Division of Industrial Design. Her thesis project, Standard Singlish, explores the potential for a unique Singlish typographical system based upon linguistic principles, encouraging Singaporeans to reconsider the language's role within contemporary society.
Miss Wan Zi Jing
Executive, Communications and Marketing, Dean’s Office
Zi Jing is a graduate from NUS Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and New Media. This year, she earned the prestigious GHY Media Award for her final year thesis, “What Makes a Chinese Singaporean, Chinese”, showcasing her talent for impactful media and communication. With a keen enthusiasm for bringing innovative ideas to life, she is eager to apply her creativity and expertise to dynamic projects. Her dedication to storytelling and media production reflects her commitment to exploring and enhancing the ever-evolving communication landscape.
Ms Goh Chew Peng, Lyn
Management Assistant Officer, Department of Mechanical Engineering
Lyn will be supporting the department in graduate programme matters. She previously worked with NUS Finance and has had extensive experience in the private sector.

Retirement
The following colleagues have their last day of service on 30 September 2024 and 31 October 2024 respectively. We thank them for their contributions and wish them all the best!
- Mr Cheng Kok Seng, Laboratory Technologist, Department of Mechanical Engineering
Mr Cheng has been with the Department for nearly 45 years, and this month marks his final one before retiring and starting a new chapter in life. He has been a key pillar in the Applied Mechanics Lab, with unmatched expertise in acoustics. Despite working part-time for the past three years, he remains a vital asset to the department and the department wishes to express its deepest appreciation for his long-standing and exceptional service over the years. - Mr Goh Ah Lay, Laboratory Technologist, Central Workshop, Dean’s Office
Mr Goh's contributions to the Central Workshop have been immeasurable. The precision, craftsmanship and passion he brought to every task have left a lasting mark on all of us. His expertise and commitment have been instrumental in shaping not only the Central Workshop but also the people who have had the privilege of working alongside him. The knowledge he have shared and the mentorship he provided have inspired countless individuals, setting them on a path toward excellence. We wish him nothing but the best in his retirement. May it be filled with joy, relaxation and new adventures.
