Congratulations to the Design Incubation Centre (DIC), as part of the Division of Industrial Design (DID), College of Design and Engineering, NUS, for receiving the "Best of the Best" award at the Red Dot Design Awards 2024 for the CALIPSO project!

It is recognised for its ergonomic design, featuring an automated sliding door that enhances movement and access. This design streamlines tasks and enhances user comfort and efficiency during long hours at the microscope.

“This award places DIC alongside the world’s top design studios, and it is a testament to the skill and commitment of our young graduates from DID,” stated Assoc Prof Christophe Gaubert, Director of the DIC and the Project Lead of CALIPSO, who received the prize alongside Poh Yun Ru, Designer at DIC. He envisions the project evolving towards industrialisation to benefit more researchers by developing a more compact and optimised version of the prototype.
