New Faculty and Staff
Dr Li Lei
Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering
Dr Li Lei received her BEng from Sichuan University in 2016 and her PhD from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2021. She completed postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford (2021-2023) and was a Lecturer at the University of Southampton. She is leading the Digital Heart Lab, which focuses on developing AI-powered personalised virtual heart models by integrating multi-modal data (medical imaging, ECG, etc.) to provide personalised prognosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Dr Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Thao
Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr Nguyen Thao joined the department as a Teaching Assistant in August 2024. Thao received her bachelor's degree in 2015 and her PhD in 2023 from NUS under the supervision of Prof Fong Xuanyao and Prof Bharadwaj Veeravalli. Her research interests include neuromorphic computing and reconfigurable computing.
Mr Zhu Zikun
Teaching Assistant, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Zikun joined the department as a Teaching Assistant in October 2024. He received a Bachelor's Degree with Honours (Highest Distinction) in Computer Engineering from NUS. He supports the department's new initiative in the Second Major/Minor in Computing (Design and Engineering). In this role, Zikun teaches tutorials and other learning sessions for the programme's core courses, such as Programming Methodology, Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Engineering, and Machine Learning.
Management Updates
- Dr Chua Dingjuan has been appointed Director-Designate of the Engineering Scholars Programme from 12 Sep 2024 to 31 Dec 2024 and Director from 1 Jan 2025 to 30 Jun 2027. Assoc Prof Alberto Corrias will step down as Director of the Engineering Scholars Programme effective 1 Jan 2025.

- Associate Professor Qian Xudong has been appointed as the Director of Strategy, Partnerships and Technology Translation for the Coastal Protection and Flood Management Institute (CFI) Singapore from October 2024.
