CDE GIVING
Aster gift to help support the next generation of engineers and innovators
At CDE, we are dedicated to preparing engineers who can lead Singapore’s sustainable energy transition through innovation, resilience and purpose.
We are proud to partner with Aster, whose gift to NUS establishes an endowed bursary that will support CDE students as they develop the skills and perspectives needed to navigate the evolving energy landscape. This initiative reflects our shared belief in empowering future talent to shape sustainable solutions for the nation and beyond.
As our Dean, Professor Teo Kie Leong, said: “We are deeply grateful for Aster’s generous bursary which will empower our students to unlock their full potential and pursue their aspirations. This crucial investment in promising individuals is instrumental in cultivating a vital talent pipeline that will bolster Singapore's energy-related sectors. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to nurturing future leaders and innovators who will propel Singapore’s sustainable development and shape the future of our energy sector.”
We look forward to continuing our work in nurturing the next generation of engineers and innovators who will design a more resilient and sustainable future for all.
Masonic Charitable Fund bolsters support for CDE students
CDE extends its sincere gratitude to the Masonic Charitable Fund (MCF) for its recent contribution to the Masonic Charitable Fund Endowed Bursary. This generous gift will enhance the fund's capacity, enabling it to provide support for 18 students annually upon its full establishment.
The bursary was established in 2022 under the leadership of Dr Brian Shegar, former Chairman of the MCF, with the express purpose of providing financial assistance to students facing economic hardship. Since the first awards were disbursed in the Academic Year 2023, the bursary has already made a tangible impact on the lives of 31 deserving students. For these student recipients, the support is instrumental in alleviating financial pressures, allowing them to dedicate their full attention to their academic pursuits and personal development.
One such student is Pan Yongjing, Year 4, Electrical Engineering, who stated, "With this support, I am able to experience campus life, allowing me to thrive in my studies while alleviating the financial burden on my family."
