Dear students, alumni, colleagues, and partners of CDE,

CDE will officially mark its fifth anniversary in January 2026, yet it carries a proud legacy of more than 70 years and a strong network of alumni spanning architecture, design, and engineering.

Our alumni continue to make an impact on the College — mentoring our undergraduates, rallying resources to support students in need, and generously sharing their expertise across diverse platforms. Many have gone on to lead teams, organisations, and industry-shaping initiatives.

We recognise these contributions through our annual NUS and CDE Alumni Awards, which celebrate individuals from a wide range of disciplines and career stages. They all share common traits: dedication to excellence, a spirit of innovation, and a commitment to service.

This year, the CDE Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Professor Ho Teck Hua (Electrical Engineering, Class of 1985). Many of you will be familiar with Professor Ho, who previously served as NUS Provost before becoming President of NTU.  He attributes his problem-solving skills, first developed during his student years, as the key to his successful career.

Ms Ho Ching (Electrical Engineering, Class of 1976), Chairman of Temasek Trust, received the Eminent Alumni Award in recognition of her exemplary leadership and lasting impact on Singapore. In her video, Ms Ho shared a similar sentiment to Prof Ho, stating that the ‘key thread that binds us all’ is the ability to solve problems.

To Ms Ho Ching and Prof Ho Teck Hua, and all the other alumni recognised this year for their contributions, we thank you for shining a light on how we are united in our desire to make a better future for all.
