CDE alumna Victoria Liew honoured with Goh Chok Tong Enable Award 2025
Congratulations to alumna Victoria Liew Yi Xuan (M Arch, Class of 2025), who has been honoured with the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards 2025, a national accolade that celebrates the achievements of persons with disabilities and encourages those with promise to pursue their aspirations.
Diagnosed with hearing loss at the age of eight, Victoria is a passionate advocate for inclusive design in Singapore’s public spaces. As part of her Master of Architecture thesis, she developed an Inclusive Design Toolkit for the d/Deaf community, advancing accessible innovation and collaboration to improve public space accessibility.
Victoria shared, "I feel hopeful that this work has spoken to the d/Deaf community and, in a way, represented them. The d/Deaf individuals with whom I shared my work-in-progress found it insightful and relatable to their own challenges, regardless of their spectrum of hearing loss. It has been encouraging to see this kind of academic work being recognised, as it signals that these conversations matter beyond the academic space and are applicable to society. I have started working full-time in an architecture firm, and moving forward, I hope to balance professional practice with continuing this body of work alongside it!"
