Energy and Decarbonisation Youth Programme
Facilitated by Prof Ang Beng Wah and Dr Goh Tian, youths learnt about sustainability, climate change, and the role of energy in decarbonisation, including a learning journey to Jurong Island to engage with industry experts.

Micron NUS-ISE Business Analytics Case Competition (BACC)
Organised annually by our ISE Club undergraduates, BACC invites Pre-U and undergraduate students to learn about Industrial Systems Engineering and showcase real-world problem-solving skills. We thank Micron for their continued support and sponsorship.

Day in the Life – D&E Scholar: Net Zero Emissions System Analysis Workshop
A total of 23 prospective students participated in the two-hour workshop, gaining insights into how industrial and systems engineering tools and analysis can be applied to climate mitigation and sustainability.

Singapore’s Climate Change and Sustainability Initiatives
Dr Su Bin was invited to be on Mediacorp’s 8视界 (8world news), together with Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu, to weigh in on Singapore’s climate change and sustainability initiatives.
Systems Design Project Industry Showcase & Poster Exhibition
Working over nine months, a total of 21 teams of BEng ISE students presented practical solutions to real industry problems. Supported by industry partners such as KKH, Micron Technology, and SingHealth, the exhibition provided a platform to showcase our students' capabilities in addressing real-world challenges.

MOU Signing Ceremony between SAF CSSCOM and NUS-TLIAP
The collaboration deepened partnership to enhance supply chain resilience and up-profile the Army’s logistics professionals. It is anchored on two key thrusts: a customised Work-Study programme in ISEM’s Master of Science (MSc) in Supply Chain Management and a Joint Research Programme.
IntelliBeats
Lim Jie Le, BEng ISE Class of 2026, collaborated with 3 other Biomedical Engineering students in developing IntelliBeats, which was awarded winner of “Most Innovative Project”. Looking ahead, Jie Le said the team is exploring commercialisation and collaborating with more healthcare professionals and institutions to refine IntelliBeats further and support broader clinical adoption.

ISEM’s Pioneer Cohort, Mr Tan Gee Paw, MSc ISE ‘71
Congratulations to Mr Tan Gee Paw, NUS Adjunct Professor and former Chairman of Changi Airport Group, who was honoured with the Order of Nila Utama at the National Day Awards, earning this year's top accolade for his role in advancing Singapore’s development in areas such as aviation, rail transport and water security.
ISEM’s Adjunct Prof Lui Pao Chuen
Congratulations to Prof Lui Pao Chuen for receiving the Distinguished Service Order at the National Day Awards. He was lauded for his contributions to Singapore across diverse fields, including education, science and technology, urban development, defence and infrastructure.
Trust, but verify: a new framework for smarter decision-making
This issue in the CDE Research Newsletter is appropriately titled: AI+X, as it covers a topic that has impacted every facet of society: artificial intelligence. Asst Prof Cheung and his PhD student devised a new theoretical framework to lay the foundation for future algorithms that make more reliable decisions in uncertain environments.

SDP Group wins Top Prize in Healthcare Innovation
When Singapore’s largest public healthcare cluster, SingHealth, looked for ways to plan its future hospitals, a team of BEng ISE final-year students stepped up to the challenge. Their task: to build a tool that could help healthcare planners anticipate and prepare for the demands of Singapore’s evolving population.

Annual Alumni Event “ISEM Meets AI: Future Ready, Impact Driven”
Curated by ISEM alumni ex-co members for ISEM alumni, this year’s line-up included an insightful panel discussion with Mr Oliver Tan, CEO & Co-Founder of ViSenze; Mr Cheong Wee Tat, Vice President of DBS; Mr Lim Choon Han, Director of Micron Technology; and Mr Allen Chng, Vice President of Insignia Ventures Partners.
Industry Guest Speaker – Mr Johnson Tan, Chairman of Singapore Quality Institute (SQI)
We would like to thank Mr Johnson Tan who gave a presentation to our students on the practice of quality management and certification in a multinational manufacturing company as well as SQI’s continuous support in sponsoring the SQI prize.

AlterCOP 30 Workshop
Dr Goh Tian conducted a workshop titled “How would you decarbonize a country? – Net Zero Emissions System Analysis” which allowed students and young professionals to gain experience in system-level energy analysis and understand how industrial and systems engineering analysis tools can be applied to the selection climate mitigation solutions.
