As Singapore’s population ages, chronic constipation is expected to become prevalent. Aside from discomfort due to bloating and abdominal pain, chronic constipation can also lead to secondary effects such as fatigue, toxin build-up in the colon, and poor immunity. Most existing products to treat chronic constipation, including those derived from natural laxatives, either only aid with bowel movement but do not address the secondary issues associated with chronic constipation, or are not suitable for long term use and have been known to cause dependency and worsen constipation in the long run.

In this project, we created an innovative natural laxative that addresses both primary and secondary effects of chronic constipation. It promotes the growth of healthy gut bacteria and improves liver detox to aid patients suffering from chronic constipation.
