James Dyson Industry Seminar 2021 – Eddy Teo

Synopsis

Dyson is a unique technology enterprise, and we are compelled to solve the problems that others ignore with inventions that turn convention on its head. Crucially, we excite people with better ideas and unexpected new technologies. 

Using our latest Dyson Supersonic attachment, the Flyaway, as case study, we will walk you through how we problem identify and explore, as well as solution generate and select. We will also briefly share the skills and training required for the development of the Flyaway.

Profile of Speaker

Eddy is an experienced engineering manager who is passionate about using engineering to solve problems and making things work better. He is also particularly keen to inspire the next generation of engineers and have done so through various educational pursuits such as mentorship and industry talks. Eddy joined Dyson in 2011, and today leads a team of engineers developing next generation of hair care technologies, such as the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, Dyson Airwrap style and Dyson Corrale straightener. Prior to joining Dyson, Eddy spent 7 years in a Japanese organisation honing his design engineering skills from lighting products to power supplies. Eddy graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2004. His curiosity in taking things apart and putting them back together led him to an engineering career. Eddy continues to believe in the importance of remaining curious and how it will propel him in the development of innovative products that will disrupt future living.
