Congratulations to our NUS Formula SAE team who clinched overall 10th position at this year’s Formula SAE Electric competition that was held in Michigan, USA from 12 to 15 June 2024!
In only their second competition since changing from internal combustion engine to an all-electric race car, the team competed against 79 other teams from USA, Canada, and Brazil in various static events (technical inspection, engineering design, business, and cost) and dynamic events (acceleration, skidpad, autocross and 22km endurance race). The team came in 12th in the acceleration event; 10th in autocross; 11th in skidpad; 10th in endurance; and 5th in efficiency.
The journey of the team’s R24e race car in completing the static and dynamic events at the competition was not an easy one. The team faced multiple setbacks and challenges along the way from extensive testing both in Singapore and Michigan prior to the competition, clocking in about 500km of mileage. This extensive testing took a toll on the car and the team, but proved crucial in competition as it prepared the team to tackle any problems. Overall, the team was very proud with the results and is now looking towards designing the next car from the lessons learnt this year.
