Team Van Halen’s Belt comprising of iDP students Ong Zhi Hong, Owen Li Dong Lin, Namuduri Venkata Raghav and Raymond Bala were awarded a Distinction Award for their submission at the recent International Space Challenge 2022 (ISC 2022) which took place between September to December 2021.
As part of the challenge statement on theme of space weather, their mission report proposed the use of a High-Voltage Energy Generator that harnesses energy from the Van Allen belts to extend satellite mission lifespan coupled with a suite of particle detectors and sensors to further understand the complex nature of these belts of radiation surrounding the Earth.
