NUS Calibur Robotics
NUS Calibur is a multidisciplinary student-driven combat robotics team, united by a singular mission—to build a fleet of combat robots for the DJI RoboMaster University Championship – the ultimate robot deathmatch.

Since the team’s formation in 2019, we’ve been pushing the limits of robotics, refining our designs, and sharpening our tactics. Our journey began with a strong debut in the online 2021 RoboMaster University Championship (due to Covid), where we clinched 2nd place in the global competition. Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength—securing 3rd place in RMUL North America (2024) in both the 3v3 and 1v1 categories and claiming 2nd place in the 3v3 category in 2023. Our ultimate goal is to compete on the world stage in Shenzhen, China in the global championships—and win.

The team is committed to pushing the boundaries of robotics innovation and excellence in the RoboMaster University Championship, developing a fleet of seven highly specialized robots designed for strategic superiority. These include Engineer, a mobile 6-DOF robotic arm for versatile battlefield operations; Aerial, a drone equipped with a precision 17mm projectile launcher for air to ground combat; Sentry, an autonomous turret delivering rapid 17mm projectile fire; Balancing Infantry, a dynamically stabilized two-wheeled robot with a 17mm launcher; Dart System, a long-range, self-aiming missile launcher for precision strikes; Hero and Regular Infantry, powerful ground units wielding 42mm and 17mm projectile launchers, respectively; and Radar, an advanced autonomous system for real-time arena-wide visual localization. Through continuous innovation, strategic design, and cutting-edge automation, the team remains at the forefront of robotics development, redefining competitive robotics with every iteration.

At NUS Calibur Robotics, we don’t just build machines—we train future talents and aspiring roboticists. Every year, we design, program, and build our robot fleet from the ground up, giving students a chance to apply they have learnt, through hands-on experience in robotics & machine learning, autonomous systems, embedded systems, mechanical and electrical design with total system integration. New recruits commence their journey through our semester-long DarkNUS training and selection program, learning the fundamentals and competing in the Infantry 1v1 Internal Competition before joining our elite competitive squad, Team Calibur.
But we truly believe robotics isn’t just for engineers. We welcome students from all faculties to join us, including Business, Humanities, and Sciences, who play vital roles in day-to-day operations, logistics, strategy, marketing and communications.
Our workshop at EW1A is a constant hive of innovation, where members fabricate, test, and fine-tune their creations—often in exhilarating live-fire battles in our test arena.
Interested? Keep an eye out for our recruitment drives each semester and join us as we push the boundaries of robotics. Or feel free to approach any EDIC staff located in Engineering Block E2A for more info.
