Deep-inspiration breath hold trainer for breast cancer radiotherapy
Deep-inspiration breath hold (DIBH) is a breathing technique necessary for tumour-heart separation during radiotherapy to minimise cardiac irradiation. Patients need a way to improve on their DIBH form outside of clinical settings, but there is limited support for patients at home and poor compliance to training at home. In this project, a home-based DIBH trainer was designed to allow breast cancer patients to master the technique prior to their radiotherapy sessions, with the aim of reducing the probability of cardiac irradiation and cardiovascular disease.
