VoltLight: Electric vehicle portable charger

Insufficient charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EV) hampers public confidence and their widespread adoption. However, increasing the number of fixed charging stations may not be a sustainable approach as they require extensive electrical infrastructure upgrades, while deploying them at scale may result in the under-utilisation of charging infrastructure.

To address this problem, we designed a luggage-like portable charger for electric vehicles. The portability of our charger allows for flexible deployment. It can easily scale and be deployed to increase charger availability at any location should there be a need for it. The solution comes with a charging hub that aims to reduce and optimise the extent of electrical infrastructure upgrades.
