NUS Eco-car Project has taken part in Shell Eco-Marathon from 2007 to 2012 and 2017 to 2018. The project will be reignited and planning has begun for the upcoming competition in March 2020.

The team mainly comprises Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering students from National University of Singapore. Year after year, we use the valuable experience gained from the competition to improve the performance in successive years.

The competition is split into two classes or categories:

• Prototype class: focuses on maximum efficiency, while passenger comfort takes a back seat.
• Urban Concept class: encourages more practical designs.

The primary design consideration in the Prototype class is reducing drag and maximizing efficiency of streamlined vehicles. On the other hand, vehicles built in the Urban Concept concept are more conventional, have 4 wheels, are roadworthy, at the same time attempting to achieve the best possible fuel efficiency and emission.
