Connector concept for high pressure high temperature applications
Surface wellhead operations require connectors that can undergo multiple connections and disconnections while withstanding extreme temperature range of -75°F to 350°F and high operating pressure of up to 15,000 psi. Conventional flange-to-flange connectors in the industry take hours to connect and disconnect. This has a negative impact on operational efficiency.
Hence, to address this problem, this project explores the design of a quick connector solution that can ensure leak-free seals even under high operating pressure. It enhances safety by simplifying the connection process, and significantly reduces connection time from hours to minutes which could lead to substantial cost savings and minimised downtime.
