Biography

Adam Gerard is the co-founder of Columba Design, a boutique consultancy where he practices design thinking and doing to address a wide range of social, environmental, and business problems. He leads clients through the innovation by design process to produce unframed solutions to their trickiest challenges. Adam is fluent in Chinese and earned his Master in Design for Smart Cities at the Strate School of Design, where his research focus was on biomimicry, circular economy and regenerative design.

As a design educator, Adam guides students through experiential learning and is passionate about bringing a pragmatic, human-centred approach to the classroom. Adam prepares his students for the workforce by developing their abilities to empathise, prototype, and present purposefully.

Adam’s earlier career experience in brand marketing for consumer goods firms enabled him to develop a penchant for uncovering human insights and turning them into actionable strategies, and this informs his approach as a designer today.
