With Singapore's demographic shift towards an ageing population and the accompanying rise in healthcare costs, the need for innovative senior housing solutions is more urgent than ever. This research explores the dynamic interaction between the built environment and quality of life (QoL), which is crucial in developing senior housing typologies that promote meaningful living within community contexts.

This research addresses critical gaps in understanding the built environment's role in shaping older adults' QoL. Through collaborative solution development, the project will deliver practical, user-centred housing designs that are responsive to seniors' current and future needs.

This study will also establish a baseline data set for a longitudinal study of senior housing typology and the QoL of older adults. The outcomes are expected to advance the discourse on ageing-in-place significantly, presenting an assessment tool and a scalable senior housing model that helps balance cost, comfort, and care of senior housing.
