M.Arch GradShow 26 – IDEK

The NUS M.Arch Graduation Show is an annual exhibition showcasing the design thesis projects of the graduating Master of Architecture cohort at the National University of Singapore. Planned and organised by the graduating students, the exhibition marks a significant milestone in their architectural education.

Each thesis is the culmination of an intensive process of research, exploration, collaboration, and design between the student and their thesis advisor. Through the investigation of architectural issues that reflect their individual interests and concerns, the projects challenge conventional understandings of architecture and contribute to broader conversations about the built environment, society, culture, and the future.

By presenting these works in a public space, the Graduation Show celebrates the graduating cohort’s achievements while inviting the wider community to engage with the ideas, processes, and unique experiences of architectural education.

This year’s theme, IDEK, explores the movements and tensions within thesis thinking through four key ideas: Impermanence, Dilemma, Existence, and Kinetic. Rather than serving as fixed categories, these ideas act as guiding “engines” that shape the diverse projects presented in the exhibition. The theme reflects on the scripts we inherit, the identities we negotiate, and the personal motivations that drive each student’s work.
