Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte Ltd Establishes Aster Bursary at CDE
The College of Design and Engineering (CDE) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is honoured to receive a generous gift of $526,000 from Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte Ltd to establish the Aster Bursary. This meaningful contribution reflects the enduring impact of philanthropy in advancing inclusivity and empowering future generations and marks an important milestone in the partnership between Aster and CDE, NUS.
The gift was commemorated at a cheque presentation ceremony held on 30 January 2026, attended by Mr Thomas Wong, Manufacturing Director, and Ms Audrey Seah, Senior General Manager, Human Resources, from Aster, as well as Professor Heng Chye Kiang, Deputy Dean and Professor Saif A. Khan, Head of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, from the CDE. The occasion highlighted a strong collaboration between industry and academia, united by a shared belief in the transformative power of education.
Presenting the cheque, Aster reaffirmed its commitment to providing sustained financial support for deserving students, enabling them to pursue their studies with confidence and focus.
Professor Heng expressed his heartfelt appreciation, saying, “We are deeply grateful to Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte Ltd for your generosity, trust, and belief in our students and in the mission of the University. Your philanthropy strengthens the ecosystem that allows talent to flourish and ideas to take root.”
Mr Wong shared Aster’s motivation behind the gift, noting, “Aster remains committed to advancing engineering excellence through sustained investment in manufacturing and technical talent—critical drivers of Singapore’s industrial growth. Our deep roots with NUS, where many of us, including myself, are proud alumni, reflect our shared journey with the nation’s industry. It’s a privilege to support NUS students as they shape the next chapter of innovation and progress.”
