Graduate Certificate in Advanced Maritime Technologies

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Maritime Technologies offers a project-based experimental learning approach where students solve real world business problems in the chosen technical domain. The objective is for students to drive their learning by engaging them in industrial setting in which students apply theoretical knowledge/practical skills to help solve complicated challenges in novel ways. Project-based learning encourages students to be active learners and supports development of important skill sets such as analytical thinking, planning, time management which are critical in contemporary work environment.

Curriculum

A candidate is expected to pass project-based course CDE5000 Industrial Project and Attachment (8 units) and achieve a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 (out of 5) to graduate.

Award of Graduate Certificate

Upon completion of 8 units with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.50 (out of 5). This certificate may be stacked towards relevant M.Sc. programmes subject to the approval from the department. The validity period of the transfer is within 5 years from the award of the Graduate Certificate.

Class Timetable

This is a project-based Graduate Certificate programme. Students work with NUS staff and representatives from companies to complete the programme. Mode of assessment comprises mid-term report, final report and oral presentation. There is no requirement to attend any lectures.

Admission Criteria

Eligibility Bachelor’s degree holders in relevant areas of Engineering. This is the minimum requirement which does not guarantee admission; selection is on a competitive basis.

Admission Intake

There are two (2) intakes per Academic Year. Candidates will be admitted at the beginning of each semester of the academic year - in  August and January.

Tuition Fees

The full tuition fee for the programme is SGD11,600 (before GST).
