On June 8, we successfully held the NUS–NTHU Bilateral Materials Symposium, bringing together faculty and students from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS-MSE) and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU-MSE), to exchange ideas on emerging materials, materials science, and future electronics.
This event marked an important milestone as the first official visit of NUS-MSE to NTHU-MSE. The symposium was opened by Prof. Ying-Hao Chu, Head of NTHU MSE, and Prof. Xue Jun Min, Head of NUS MSE, who shared the development, research strengths, and future directions of both departments.
During the visit, we also had fruitful discussions with the College of Engineering at NTHU on future MOU directions, academic exchange, student development, and potential collaboration frameworks. The delegation further visited the NTHU International Industry-Academia Operations Center and the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute to learn more about startup incubation, technology translation, and advanced semiconductor fabrication.
Led by Dr. Fang-Cheng Liang, our NUS faculty members, Prof. Benjamin C. K. Tee, Prof. Lance Li, Prof. Hui Ying Yang, Assistant Prof. Wan Yi, and Assistant Prof. Ahmet Avsar, represented the NUS MSE at the NUS–NTHU Symposium, sharing their research expertise and strengthening collaborative ties through engaging discussions and knowledge exchange.
This visit not only laid a stronger foundation for future academic exchange, talent development, industry-academia collaboration, and international partnership between the two institutions, but also opened a new chapter in the collaboration between NUS and NTHU.
