THE latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject placed NUS 8th in the world for Engineering and Technology. The University was ranked among the world's top 20 in four subjects - Business and Economics; Computer Science; Engineering and Technology; and Physical Sciences. NUS also improved its performance in the fields of Arts and Humanities; Clinical, Pre-clinical and Health; Life Sciences; and Social Sciences.

The THE subject rankings employ the same 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2018 that reflect the core missions of research-intensive universities in teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook, though the methodology has been recalibrated to suit individual fields.
NUS has been placed among the top 100 universities in the world for the following subject areas:
Engineering and Technology: Ranked 8th
Computer Science: Ranked 13th
Business and Economics: Ranked 16th
Physical Sciences: Ranked 16th
Social Sciences: Ranked 21st
Life Sciences: Ranked 26th
Clinical, Pre-clinical and Health: Ranked 28th
Arts and Humanities: Ranked 30th
Law (NEW): Ranked 30th
Psychology (NEW): Ranked 55th
