NUS ranks in top 10 for Engineering subjects worldwide

NUS has been ranked among the top 10 in the world for Engineering subjects, according to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2021.

In alphabetical order, NUS was ranked number three globally in Chemical Engineering, number two in Civil and Structural Engineering, number five in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, number five in Materials Science, number nine in Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering and number one in Petroleum Engineering.

Overall, NUS ranked 11th out of 1,000 universities worldwide in the rankings, making it the top ranked university in the Asia-Pacific region.

The rankings, compiled by QS, provide independent comparative analysis on the performance of 13,883 individual university programmes, taken by students at 1,440 universities across the world.

For the QS 2021 subject rankings, NUS was placed among the world's top 10 for each of the Engineering and Technology programmes it was ranked in.

Commenting on the latest rankings, Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President of Professional Services at QS, said: "The consistent improvements made by Singaporean institutions in our rankings are the result of a decade of investment and strategising… Advantaged by Singapore's long-term preparation in their financial futures, and by a relentlessly international outlook, Singapore's higher education is going from strength to strength."
