PROFESSOR Lim Chwee Teck from NUS Biomedical Engineering is the first full-time professor to be conferred the NUS Society (NUSS) Professorship. Prof Lim is also the Principal Investigator at the NUS Mechanobiology Institute and Faculty Fellow at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology.
"It is such a privilege to be the first Professor from NUS to be conferred this NUSS Professorship. I want to thank both NUSS and NUS for this tremendous honour and recognition," said Prof Lim.
Although a mechanical engineer by training, Prof Lim's current research focuses on human disease mechanobiology and the development of microfluidics for disease diagnosis and therapy. He has been elected Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering as well as the International Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering. He currently sits on the editorial board or appointed as Associate Editor of more than 20 journals.
Prof Lim also co-founded 5 startup companies which commercialise technologies developed in his lab. He and his team have received more than 80 awards and honours, including the International Precision Medicine Conference Award 2017, Asian Scientist 100, 2016, Wall Street Journal Asian Innovation Award in 2012, and the President's Technology Award in 2011.
