Thirteen faculty members from NUS Engineering have been recognised in the 2020 Highly Cited Researchers™ list and among the World's Most Influential Scientific Minds.

The annual list - compiled by Clarivate, formerly a division of Thomson Reuters - identifies researchers who demonstrate significant impact and influence in their chosen field by publishing several highly cited papers during the last decade.

The names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top one per cent by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science™ citation index.

According to Clarivate, highly cited researchers contribute disproportionately to extending the frontiers of knowledge and gaining for society innovations that make the world healthier, richer, more sustainable and more secure.

Professor Aaron Thean, Dean of NUS Engineering said: "This list reflects the great impact our researchers are having in communities around the world, and the thriving culture of innovation across our faculty. It is a source of great pride to see 13 of our NUS Engineering colleagues included on the list, celebrating individuals whose inspiring work is influencing the direction of progress in science and engineering."

The NUS Engineering faculty members named in the 2020 list represent five departments: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering and Management, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Worldwide the 2020 list includes 26 Nobel laureates, among them Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov from the NUS Department of Materials Science and Engineering who has been recognised in two subject fields - Materials Science and Physics.
