Seatrium deepens support for NUS CDE Professorship to drive offshore and energy innovation

This renewed commitment will advance research, talent development and industry collaboration in offshore infrastructure, sustainability and emerging engineering solutions.

Seatrium Professorship Signing Ceremony

The Seatrium Professorship at NUS CDE first started as a long-standing academic–industry partnership that began over two decades ago, and was renewed in 2023 to reflect a shared commitment to advance research, talent development and innovation in areas shaping the future of the offshore, marine and energy sectors.

Seatrium has further strengthened their commitment to Professorship activities and collaborations with NUS CDE at the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific on 19 May 2026. This aims to not only advance research in offshore infrastructure, sustainability, and engineering solutions, but also continue existing initiatives such as the NUS Seatrium Public Lecture, which brought together academia and industry to exchange perspectives on emerging developments and challenges in the sector.

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) will leverage its deep expertise in offshore engineering to advance research in key areas such as ocean renewable energy, as well as offshore power systems, autonomous operations, and AI-enabled digital technologies. Together, the Professorship aims to advance energy innovation and sustainability, translate ideas into real-world impact, strengthen industry relevance, and reinforce CEE’s efforts to build capability and nurture talent in areas relevant to the sector.

Assoc Prof Qian Xudong (Civil & Environmental Engineering), stated, “The significance of this partnership lies not only in what it makes possible today, but in the momentum it creates for the years ahead. With this renewed support, we are better placed to deepen technical capabilities and pursue work that responds to the evolving needs of the offshore, marine and energy landscape.”
