Singapore and Yogyakarta | City to City: A Comparative Study

This trip is part of our NUS Cities elective, CDE4501B, running in AY25/25 Semester 1.
The city of Yogyakarta has unique characteristics in approaching resilience and sustainability in its respective geographical and socio-cultural contexts. The immersion to Yogyakarta will provide an opportunity for students to frame a comparative study exercise between Yogyakarta and Singapore. This trip can help students to understand better on how cities contextually define that attributes and features of liveability and the approaches to multiple challenges in a resilient and sustainable living environment.
This tip is in collaboration between NUS Cities and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM). This learning platform will be underpinned by immersive experience, interdisciplinary collaboration and a systems-thinking approach to analyse the two cities.
