Our NUS Cities faculty, Adjunct Prof. Koh Choon Fah and Visiting Assoc. Prof. H. Koon Wee, were interviewed for a Guest City Exhibition, Microclimatic Infrastructure: Tempering Public Space in a Dense Tropical City, held at the 4th Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2023.

Curated by Christine Yogiaman, Kenneth Tracy, and Hendriko Teguh, this exhibition explores Singapore's Golden Mile Complex (GMC) as an innovative mixed-use development of its time where public spaces were designed with multi-level circulation tailored to its tropical milieu. Inaugurated in 1973, the GMC is one of the earliest and grandest air-conditioned atriums within a mixed-use setting. Despite being on the cusp of needing rejuvenation, the building garners significant public sentiment advocating for its preservation.
