Asst Prof Filip Biljecki (Architecture) and his research team have developed a new model to map Singapore’s night-time brightness, revealing stark contrasts between the city’s regions. The study found that eastern residential areas, which are denser and more active, are significantly brighter than the western zones, which are home to more industrial estates and nature reserves.
