SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
Basis for Award
Mr. Alfred Wong Hong Kwok, founder of Alfred Wong Partnership (“AWP”) and the first Gold Medalist of Singapore Institute of Architects has made an endowed gift of S$150,000 to NUS Department of Architecture of the College of Design and Engineering in support of a scholarship for Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (Honours) students.

Basis for Award
In memory of the late Associate Professor Ng Wai Keen, his family established a scholarship to support Year 1 students from the Master of Urban Planning programme. This scholarship, aimed at nurturing academic excellence and providing financial assistance, reflects his passion for urban planning education and commitment to helping others.
Program and Level of Study: Year 1 student from the Master of Urban Planning (MUP) programme.
Award Amount: A cash prize of Two Thousand and Five Hundred Singapore Dollars ($2,500) will be presented at the award ceremony during Academic Year (AY) 24/25.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- First-year Master of Urban Planning (MUP) student with the highest-Grade Point Average (GPA).
Basis for Award
Mr. Toh Kim Sai, a NUS alumnus and Senior Vice President (Project Development) of CapitaLand Limited, has pledged an endowed gift to NUS Department of Architecture of the College of Design and Engineering in support of a scholarship for B.A Architecture (Hons) students.

Year
Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and Master of Arts in Urban Design (MAUD)
Basis for Award
The Cheong Koon Hean Scholarship is established by Dr Cheong Koon Hean who is the CEO of Housing Development Board (HDB) since 2010. Up to three scholarships, each valued at S$9400 will be given out to deserving Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and Master of Arts in Urban Design (MAUD) Singaporean students in each year with effect from AY2017/2018.
The scholarship will be effective for one academic year, subject to the student meeting the criteria (if any) set by the University from time to time in its policies for the award.
The study grant is donated by SAA Architects (Singapore) commencing AY2015/16 with the aim of providing bursaries for financially needy Singaporean students enrolled at the Department of Architecture. The grant will be awarded to up to two students per academic year.
Each grant valued at S$5000 per year will be effective for two academic years to support the same student throughout his/her course of study in Year 3 and 4, subject to the student meeting the criteria (if any) set by the University from time to time in its policies for the award of bursaries
The gift will help to ensure that the Department will always be accessible to talented students from the widest possible backgrounds.
TRAVELLING/RESEARCH AWARDS
Number of Awards: The number of awardees and the quantum of the award will be decided by the selection committee.
Award Amount: Each award recipient will receive a base stipend of Two Thousand Singapore Dollars ($2,000) – Three Thousand Singapore Dollars ($3,000) to support their travel and research expenses.
Program and Level of Study: Students from the final year of the M.Arch Program
Eligibility & Application Details:
Current student enrolled in the final year of the M.Arch program at NUS.
Students with a thesis topic that is located overseas that requires an in-depth empirical study of the country and/or thesis topic.

Award
$10,000
Eligibility
The gift sum of $10,000 per year will be used to award up to five stipends valued at $2,000 to $10,000, depending on duration of the undertaking. The award will be granted on competitive basis, based on submissions received in the following areas:
- Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) Level 3 or 4 students – proposed study with a clearly articulated research theme of significance to architectural inquiry.
- Master of Architecture students – comprehensive development of the reports of the best MArch theses
The recipients must provide the following deliverables:
- A public presentation of the work in a small exhibition or publication
- A report of the work
Selection Criteria
Students who apply for the prize will be required to submit the following for review and approval by the Selection Committee:
- CV
- Academic Transcripts
- Academic portfolios
- Proposal for the undertaking
Selection will be based on the significance and merit of the proposal.
The Department reserves the right not to award any prize if the proposals are not up to a high academic or research standard.

Award Amount: Each award recipient will receive a base stipend of Seven Thousand Singapore dollars ($7,000) to support their travel and research expenses.

Arch Students: Students enrolled in the Master of Architecture (M.Arch) program at NUS.

Award Amount: Each award recipient will receive a base stipend of Two Thousand and Five Hundred Singapore dollars ($2,500) and an additional top-up of One Thousand Singapore Dollars ($1,000) each from DOA to support travel and research expenses in Asia.
Program and Level of Study: Students from Year 1 to Year 3 of the BA. Arch (Hons) programme.

Academic Standing: A high GPA, indicating strong academic performance.
Trip Proposal and Itinerary: A compelling and well-defined proposal that outlines your intended travel itinerary, highlighting specific architectural sites you plan to visit, especially those by Le Corbusier. Explain how this travel experience will enhance your architectural knowledge and studies.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Associate Professor David J.K Lim was the University’s longest serving design educators until his retirement from his role as Associate Professor in 1986. Under his watch, generations of architects were schooled and graduated with in-depth knowledge of contextual and environmental design.
To commemorate the life in architectural education of his late father, Mr Andrew Lim has pledged a gift to NUS Department of Architecture in support of a bursary for Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) students.
The bursary will be awarded to students in the Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) Programme, subject to the availability of funds or spending limit available every year and is tenable for one (1) year.
The Lee Kip Lin Bursary is established by Mrs. Lee Li Ming to commemorate the life of her late husband, Associate Professor Lee Kip Lin in architectural education. Associate Professor Lee Kip Lin was an influential teacher in the Department of Architecture where he taught for five years between 1976 and 1984 and as an intrepid and independent scholar of architectural and urban history of Singapore.
2 bursaries, each valued at $7,500 will be awarded in each academic year, starting AY2013/14. Applicants should be full-time undergraduates reading the BA(Architecture) programme and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Committee.
