DoA Graduate Futures Fellowship

The inaugural DoA Graduate Futures Fellowship was launched on 1 October 2024 to support outstanding students from ASEAN member states who wish to pursue a professional graduate degree at the Department of Architecture, NUS.

LEE LI-MING SCHOLARSHIP FOR ECOLOGICAL DESIGN

The Lee Li-Ming Scholarship for Ecological Design supports international students from India and ASEAN member states* (excluding Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents) in pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree at NUS.

Scholarship may be awarded under either of the following options:

  • $25,000 per year for international students advancing from the NUS BLA programme (for one year) and for international students graduating from other universities (for two years).
  • 40% of full-time tuition fees per academic year for international students advancing from the NUS BLA programme (for one year) and for international students graduating from other universities (for two years).

The total number of scholarships will be determined by the MLA programme director before disbursement.

* ASEAN member states: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

Selection criteria 

  • Academic excellence: Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0.
  • Potential to bring diverse experiences and perspectives to the programme.

How to apply
Eligible candidates are automatically considered for the Lee Li-ming Scholarship for Ecological Design when they complete an application to enter the MLA program through the Graduate Admission System (GDA3). The application window is from 1 October 2026 to 28 February 2027. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to obtain a fast response from the Department.

Terms and conditions

  • Students awarded this Scholarship must volunteer in an environmental organisation or local government agency in Singapore, or an institution such as NUS.
  • Scholarship recipients must complete a design thesis featuring ecological processes in landscape design.

About Lee Li-Ming
Mdm Lee Li-Ming is the wife of the late Associate Professor Lee Kip Lin in architectural education. Associate Professor Lee Kip Lin was an influential teacher in the Department of Architecture, where he taught for five years between 1976 and 1984, and an intrepid, independent scholar of Singapore’s architectural and urban history.

Mdm Lee Li-Ming advocates working with ecological processes in design. She believes that enabling international students in financial need to study in Singapore can empower them to help shape more sustainable environmental futures for the region. This Scholarship was established to equip future landscape architects with the knowledge, methods, and approaches needed to advance this vision.

Gardens By The Bay Scholarship

Offered to candidates who are passionate about Horticulture and possess a keen interest in pursuing a long-term career in this field. The Gardens will support our Scholars in embarking on their tertiary journey, with challenging and rewarding career paths and job rotations. Scholars can expect a rewarding experience – where passion is inspired and expertise is nurtured.

DesignSingapore Scholarship

DesignSingapore Scholarship is for individuals with creativity, drive and passion for design. The scholarship will groom designers to become designer leaders who will use strategy and innovation to make things better by design. Our scholarship holders may come from different fields of design, but they share one uncommon trait – they are game changers and aspire to contribute to Singapore and the design sector. We are on the lookout for talented individuals with creative flair, the drive to push boundaries; and a heart to serve Singapore.

Applications will open around Feb 2027.

AWARD - Gardens by the Bay Prize

This cash prize of $1000 is awarded in each academic year to the top graduate with the highest GPA in the MLA programme. Student has to complete the programme with the minimum GPA of 4.5 to be considered.
