‘Waves’ started out as an exploration of how a structure can be designed to react to the tropical environment. The skin of the structure allows for ventilation while simultaneously bringing in daylight, creating a sensual illusion of light rippling across the surface. A hyperbolic shell forms the roof of the structure, while the movement of light against the swaying fabric brings the pavilion to life with their ever-changing shadows. The pavilion, situated on the F1 track beside The Float@Marina Bay, provides a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life with a scenic view of the Singapore skyline.
