DEP5111 Advanced Urban Data Science

Urban planning is becoming more and more data-driven, necessitating expanding technical skills. Advanced Urban Data Science is a core course that expands the knowledge and skills of urban data science. It is a balanced course that builds on the fundamentals by introducing intermediate topics and provides a reinforcement of core concepts. Upon the successful completion of the course, students will be able to: perform advanced data manipulation and analysis, critically evaluate urban analytics methods and their limitations, develop skills in presenting and communicating complex quantitative findings, recognise and mitigate common statistical fallacies and biases, and understand the broader contextual implications of data analysis in urban studies.
