CJ Lim advocates the symbiosis of design and its realisation, with drawing as the main innovative medium. The discourse of his teachings takes the notion ‘What if…’ as its starting point, and at three different scales: the city, the building, and the construction. Through the interpretation of the brief and narrative, each student posits a divergent status quo to establish an individual critical thinking position, a manifesto, and redefine the notion of the city and its architecture. Innovative technical exposition, environmental science and the entrepreneurial spirit are key stimulus for cultivating a complex strategic programme and taking sometimes impossible architecture ideas to its conclusion. The outcome is an investigative catalogue, exploring and capturing key decisions that have influenced the design process and is integral to the speculative pursuit of knowledge.
