Design Summer Camp
Introduction
*Design Summer Camp has been cancelled for 2021 due to COVID-19 and will return in 2022*
Design Summer Camp (DSC) is a 3-week programme at the Department of Architecture, NUS, open to anyone in Junior College and upwards, including university students and working professionals who are interested to learn about a design education.
This immersive, studio-based programme allows individuals with no previous background to experience the conceptual approaches and skills related to the design professions. Students will be exposed to the unique culture of the studio, and to explore topics related to architecture, landscape, urban design—using Singapore as a context. Via experiential learning and design-thinking approaches, they will exercise their spatial imagination and creativity in producing three projects that can be used to build a design portfolio.
Participants will attend lectures, tours, workshops and field trips conducted by faculty from DOA and Yale-NUS College. They will have access to skills training, field trips, walking tours in the city and office visits—as well as consultations with DOA programme directors to find out more about various design programmes and career trajectories.
