Imagine bashing through thick vegetation in the Amazon forest. As it starts to part, a village hidden amongst the leaves unfolds. This juxtaposition of experiences makes the discovery of this village so magical, like you are entering a new world, an oasis.
In creating an otherworldly utopia, students are able to escape school to rejuvenate and have fun. Such experiences are achieved through the use of vegetation integrated with architecture. The student centre is made out of 3 Enclaves; Relax, Play and Support.
Within each Enclave are pavilions where new relationships between different programmatic spaces are created to craft special spaces. To prepare students for the real world, university should teach students responsibility. Parts of the village will be built by students where they will learn through their mistakes. A versatile “kit-of-parts” construction system allows the village to grow as the needs of students change throughout the years.
