Waters Of Renewal

The Waters of Renewal project revives the identity and cultural heritage of water in Harumi, Tokyo. It draws a connection from Tsukiji and Tsukishima to create a holistic water-centric urban experience. The project is focused on intentional use of water for identity, to guide its environmental strategy, and an increase in residential density. It is a new urban island by the water. The project features water features such as open cleansing ponds, landform parks, water parks and hot springs will serve as a communal space, fostering social engagement and well-being.
Furthermore, a bath water treating system is integrated into urban high-rises following. It is then processed by rain water soft treatment, providing a sustainable water source for the city. This initiative not only preserves Japan’s deep cultural connection to water but also promotes environmental responsibility and integration into green and blue infrastructures.
Overall, the revitalization of the Harumi waterfront will encourage public space activation, creating an inviting urban environment where people can experience Tokyo Bay’s maritime heritage.
