Singapore’s mega port terminal in Tuas, an industrial region in Singapore, will be upscaled to 13.25km2 of yard area in 2027. The design research studio led by Joseph Lim anticipates the possibility of new shipping routes arising from geopolitical and climate change. With new port locations competing Singapore as a major transhipment hub, the speculative project re-thinks the planning of 400hA of land area for future resilience in the light of economic change. TuasCity 2050 anticipates this scenario, and explores how port infrastructure may transit into a fully integrated self-sustaining coastal township in the industrial region of Singapore in the future.
