This public screening will feature selected short films accompanied by presentations by students from the NUS Master of Architecture studio led by Dr Simone Shu-Yeng Chung, supported by the Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Asian Architectural and Urban Heritage and The Bendahari. Forming two sections, Section I: Expressive Space seeks to capture and communicate the character, properties and aesthetics of the Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre and its neighbourhood in the cinema montage tradition. Being narrative-driven, Section II: An Urban Story, is a collection of vignettes foregrounding Melaka’s cultural heritage and unique urban morphology – the outcome of historical developments spanning centuries.
The two-hour event serves as a gesture of gratitude to the community, particularly the people of Melaka, who are the custodians of the stories and heritage showcased in these films. Screening dates and times are
