The architectural design thesis marks the culmination of a student’s architectural education—an intensive, year-long journey of independent inquiry. Each thesis is a deep exploration of a contemporary issue, with design as a means to probe and speculate on the future.

In this seminar, selected students from the NUS Master of Architecture programme (Academic Year 2024–2025) will present their exceptional thesis projects. These presentations will be followed by responses from a distinguished panel of international architects and academics. Through these conversations, the seminar aims to engage with a broad spectrum of architectural agendas that reflect the concerns and possibilities of our time.

This forum offers valuable insight into the emerging generation of architectural thinkers. Practicing architects will benefit by gaining exposure to the ideas, design strategies, and critical perspectives of young designers. The guest reviewers will offer their own interpretations and reflections, bringing a rich diversity of expertise to the discussion. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the open Q&A sessions and contribute to this ongoing dialogue.

The learning objective of the seminar is to examine today’s architectural challenges and opportunities through the lens of student thesis work. By engaging with alternative design approaches and critical inquiries into society, technology, culture, and the built environment, the forum invites collective reflection on the evolving role of architecture in shaping our world.
