Connecting Time, Space, Art, Culture, And Ecology Through Landscape Design: A holistic learning environment at the International French School in the Asian context of Singapore
The process of guiding education and individuals who will eventually form societies, is the way skills, knowledge, morals and values are transferred for formative effect. This lecture focuses on diverse facets layered, via the design expertise of landscape architecture, for a holistic pedagogic environment, through forging links to nature and ecology; to history and culture; to art, beauty and collective memory.
The International French School Singapore (IFS), Lycée Français, educates young minds from kindergarten to baccalaureate, and its multi-layered landscape and distinct French-Asian identity, distinguishes IFS from other international schools in Singapore.
As the principal landscape architect for IFS, Helen Smith-Yeo designed and guided the evolution of the entire landscape with singular vision, weaving connections at multiple stratums- physical, intellectual, artistic, cultural and spiritual- through the evocation of Time, Space, Art, Culture, and Ecology creating synergies to awaken young minds.
