Honours and Gratitude: DOA Awards Ceremony Celebrate Student Achievements and Donor Support
On the evening of 18th November 2024, the atmosphere at NUS SDE3 LT425 was filled with pride and celebration as 36 exceptional students were honoured at the department awards ceremony. These distinguished recipients included 35 students from our department, each exemplifying a remarkable blend of academic excellence and transformative projects. Additionally, a student from the Division of Industrial Design (DID) was recognised for her outstanding design achievements.
In his opening speech, the Head of the Department, Professor Jeff Hou, expressed his congratulations to all the awardees, stating, “These awards represent the achievements of individual students whose hard work and creativity are recognised and celebrated today.” Additionally, he offered his sincere thanks to the generosity of our alumni, donors, and supporters who made these awards and bursaries possible.
Despite being overseas for their exchange programmes, seven students made a special effort to join us virtually via Zoom. Their heartfelt appreciation speeches were a testament to their gratitude, as they addressed the generous donors present in the lecture theatre.
The event not only celebrated the hard work and dedication of our students but also highlighted the unwavering commitment of the donors who have supported the students’ educational journeys. In his closing speech, Associate Professor Cheah Kok Ming, the Deputy Head for Academic, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the donors for their invaluable contributions and partnership. He acknowledged their generous support, which has empowered students to pursue their research ambitions further.
