NUS DOA Material Interface Experience Library Wins Prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 (User Interface Category)

Designed by SkyTimber Lab, led by Associate Professor Shinya Okuda, the NUS DOA Material Experience Library (Material Interface) is operated by the Department Design Fabrication Workshop and supported by Student Material Library Assistants. The Material Interface serves as a bridge between the digital design environment and the physical realm of material processing, and is envisioned as a creative foundation for architectural design education.

We are honoured to announce that our Material Interface Experience Library (Material Interface) has received recognition with the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2025. This globally renowned award is a mark of excellence, signifying outstanding achievement in design and innovation.

The Material Interface received the award in the User Experience (UX) discipline, within the Interior/Architecture category. Selected from nearly 11,000 submissions representing 66 countries, this recognition highlights the innovative and distinctive design of Material Interface – an impressive accomplishment that underscores the highly competitive nature of the award.

With its pioneering approach to bridging digital and physical design environments, Material Interface impressed the international jury, comprised of 131 independent design experts. It stood out among a strong field of competitors, earning this coveted seal of approval.
