"Architecture’s Communities" at Singapore Design Week 2025

DOA Architecture’s Communities

We’re pleased to share that the Department’s exhibition team, “Architecture’s Communities,” will be featured at this year’s Singapore Design Week (SDWSG25) as part of REINVENTION presented by Singapore Science Park from 11 to 21 September 2025, held at the GENEO at Singapore Science Park, Shopee lobby.

Exhibition Abstract
What socio-material conditions of possibility do these various communities offer or impose on architects and the production of architecture? How might architects mediate between these diverse communities and their different socio-material affordances and dependencies? How might architects engage with these communities to forge and materialize forms, spaces, and practices of commoning? What design techniques and technologies might architects deploy to fulfil the full potential or overcome the intractable constraints of these engagements? What forms of agency might architects exercise in these engagements and what ethics of engagements should guide these architects? The projects in this showcase respond to these questions through research and design, presenting work from the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning programmes at the Department.

The projects in this showcase respond to these questions through research and design, featuring work from the Department’s Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Planning programmes.
