Ong Siew May (OSM) Professorship
We are pleased to announce that Professor Hitoshi Abe from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is joining us as the Ong Siew May (OSM) Distinguished Visiting Professor for Semester 1 of the Academic Year 2023/2024. Prof Abe will be bringing his expertise and providing guidance to the Master of Architecture (MArch) 1 & 2 students in AR5801 Options Design Research Studio 1 and AR5805 Advanced Architecture Studio, where he will share his valuable experience.

In 1992, he was awarded first prize in the Miyagi Stadium competition. Since then, Prof Abe has led an active international design practice, with offices in Sendai, Japan, and Los Angeles. Renowned for his spatially complex and structurally innovative architecture, Prof Abe’s firm, Atelier Hitoshi Abe, has received extensive recognition and numerous awards both in Japan and internationally. Among these is the 2011 Japan Society for Finishing Technology Award for the F-town building.
