DEP5101 URBAN ANALYSIS WORKSHOP

The Urban Analysis Workshop is the first studio project of the MUP programme. This core studio course focuses on learning planning principles and advanced analytical tools and applying these to investigate the selected urban site’s conditions and identify issues that would assist with articulating the opportunities and demands for future planning interventions. This includes understanding and balancing the consideration of culture, heritage, land use, ecology, mobility, density, demographics, economy, infrastructure and technology and the influence of sustainability, climate change, resilience and liveability to assist with decision-making during the planning process. Through analysis, scenario making and structure plan making, the studio sets the grounds for urban planning interventions to be developed in the second semester of the programme.
