Cheong Koon Hean Scholarship

The Cheong Koon Hean Scholarship is established by Dr Cheong Koon Hean, CEO of the Housing and Development Board. Dr Cheong’s long and illustrious career in various sectors of the government has won her many accolades in public administration and urban planning. In October 2016, she was awarded the Urban Land Institute’s J C Nichols Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development. Dr Cheong was the 2017 S R Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore at the Institute of Policy Studies.

In this spirit of service and excellence, the Cheong Koon Hean Scholarship aims to support the cultivation of planning experts in and of Singapore. Up to three scholarships will be awarded to Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and Master of Arts in Urban Design (MAUD) students every year with effect from AY2017/2018. Only Singaporean citizens are eligible for this scholarship. Selection is based on merit and overall promise of the student.

The scholarship will be effective for one academic year for MAUD students. For MUP students, the scholarship may be awarded for one academic year or two academic years, subject to the student meeting the criteria (if any) set by the University from time to time in its policies for the award.
